In 1998, I went to the Van Gogh exhibit at one of the big art museums in Washington, D.C. Many pieces were on loan from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam while that museum was undergoing renovations. The curators from the two museums recorded the narration that explained the exhibits. They read from a lot of the letters that Vincent exchanged with his brother. It was fascinating to hear what Van Gogh himself wrote about the paintings on which he was working.
